To Strengthen a Nation

To Strengthen a Nation is a 13-part documentary series produced for the centennial of the The American Legion, exploring the organization’s origins, evolution, and continuing impact on communities across the United States. The series follows hosts Jeric Wilhelmsen and Lorna Duyn as they travel the country to uncover the story of America’s largest veterans organization through expert interviews, historical locations, and the voices of Legionnaires themselves. Jeric Wilhelmsen served as both host and lead editor on much of the series, helping shape its narrative through a blend of field production, archival footage, animation, and motion graphics. Developed from the Legion’s national headquarters, the project chronicles a century of service—from its founding after World War I to its ongoing role supporting veterans, youth programs, and communities nationwide.

Found in America

Found in America is a feature documentary produced, shot, and edited by Jeric Wilhelmsen that follows endurance cyclist Dave Haase during his attempt to complete the legendary Race Across America—one of the most grueling endurance races in the world. The film captures the physical and emotional toll of racing nearly 3,000 miles across the United States while exploring the deeper motivations that drive athletes to pursue extreme challenges. Through intimate interviews, vérité-style race coverage, and cinematic landscapes of the American West, Wilhelmsen crafts a character-driven story about perseverance, sacrifice, and the pursuit of meaning on the open road.

The film follows the miners and their families during the 2010 lockout, capturing the emotional and economic toll of a 100-day struggle for a fair contract as workers confront a powerful multinational corporation. Jeric Wilhelmsen served as Director of Photography, helping craft the film’s visual storytelling through on-the-ground coverage of demonstrations, interviews with workers and union leaders, and cinéma vérité footage that immerses viewers in the day-to-day realities of the dispute. Through intimate imagery and documentary observation, Locked Out presents a powerful portrait of working-class solidarity and the human impact of a major labor conflict in modern America.
